CLIMB & BELAY LESSON

CLIMB & BELAY LESSON

AGES 8 & UP

The Climb & Belay Lesson is our most in depth offering for scout and guide groups (ages 8 and up). Over the course of the lesson, while being supervised by our trained instructors, climbers will learn to belay each other using a GriGri and lower one another from the top of the gym. Belaying requires the use and development of leadership, teamwork, and communication skills, and is a great way to challenge young climbers.

TIME: 2 Hours

The Guelph Grotto is situated on the territories of the HaudenosauneeAnishinabewaki ᐊᓂᔑᓈᐯᐗᑭAttiwonderonk (Neutral)Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, and Mississauga. Guelph’s colonial borders also hold history of the Haldimand Treaty of 1784Treaty 3 of 1792, and Anishinaabe language. The Guelph Grotto profits and operates on land that we acknowledge and respect as Indigenous to what is currently Canada. We recognize the importance of listening and learning about colonization, both historically and how colonialism manifests today, so that we may take actions which contribute to healing relationships in Canada - between peoples, land, and communities.
